Introducing our Rising Stars from 2015’s Super Doctors!
The Liver Institute at Methodist Dallas Medical Center is pleased to congratulate two of our outstanding physicians who have been named Rising Stars for 2015 by Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors. Congratulations to Dr. Maisha Barnes and Dr. Hector Nazario!
In order to be chosen as a Super Doctor or Rising Star, each physician is nominated by their peers and undergoes a strenuous selection process created by Texas Monthly, ensuring only the best of the best make the cut. After the selection process, the nominees are reviewed by their peers in key areas including, but not limited to, Fellowships, Leadership Positions, Academic Achievements, Board Certifications and Publications. The candidates are then separated by specialty, with the top-scoring physicians pooling to create a Blue Ribbon Panel that reviews their peers through an in-depth analysis. The final selections are made by totaling all of the points from the previous steps and performing a disciplinary background check. Super Doctors represent approximately 5% of the doctors within the state.
Dr. Maisha Barnes and Dr. Hector Nazario have both qualified to receive this top honor given to only 2.5% of doctors in the region. Dr. Barnes is a Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist specializing in liver disease, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis and liver transplantation at The Liver Institute with Dr. Nazario, Chief of Hepatology specializing in liver disease and transplantation, cirrhosis, transplant complications and other gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Nazario has also been recently featured on the cover of Living Magazine, which featured an article about all of our decorated providers.
The Liver Institute is also home to several of 2014’s Super Doctors. Visit SuperDoctors.com to find the list as well as a complete description of the Super Doctors and Rising Stars selection process.
